Pakistan, European Union Commit to Enhancing Democratic Cooperation

Islamabad: Pakistan and the European Union have reaffirmed the importance of democratic values, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights as shared priorities and agreed on the need to further strengthen mutual cooperation and engagement.

According to Radio Pakistan, the understanding was reached during a meeting between Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar and Member of the European Parliament Ondrej Dost¡l in Islamabad today. The discussions centered on the importance of further strengthening positive and constructive Pakistan-EU relations and promoting parliamentary engagement between the two sides.

The Minister stated that Pakistan places significant importance on democratic values, the constitutional system, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights. He emphasized that strong democratic institutions and effective parliamentary engagement play a crucial role in promoting cooperation at both the national and international levels.

In response, Ondrej Dost¡l appreciated the Federal Minister’s efforts and initiatives in the areas of constitutional and legal affairs, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration between Pakistan and the EU.
