New york: Pakistan has voiced its grave concern at the United Nations over the escalating trend of Islamophobia, intolerance, and right-wing extremism targeting minorities, particularly Muslims, across the globe. This expression of concern was made during an Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues in the Third Committee.
According to Radio Pakistan, Counsellor Saima Salim highlighted the troubling use of religion for political motives and the systematic marginalization of Muslims in certain regions. She emphasized that these developments are deeply alarming. Salim pointed to discriminatory citizenship laws, attacks on places of worship, and calls for genocide, alongside hateful political rhetoric against minorities, which have been adopted as official state policy in India.
Furthermore, Salim stated that Pakistan remains committed to playing a constructive role in fostering understanding, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence among various faiths and cultures.
