Pakistan Making Capital Market More Efficient Through Digital Reforms

Islamabad: Pakistan is making its capital market more efficient and investor-friendly through digital reforms and the adoption of modern technology. Pakistan Stock Market recorded a forty-eight percent growth, while over one hundred and ninety thousand new investors joined the market in the last financial year.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and Pakistan Stock Exchange have introduced several reforms to simplify the account opening process. To facilitate investors, the SECP has launched a digital verification system that enables identity verification through bank accounts. This new system has accelerated account opening, reduced paperwork, and further enhanced the ease of doing business.

Additionally, Minor Trading Accounts have been introduced, allowing parents to invest on behalf of children under the age of eighteen. A Digital Onboarding Mobile App is also being launched to make the investing process simpler, faster, and more accessible to everyone.
