Islamabad: On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to enhancing the care and support for its elderly population, emphasizing respect and improved healthcare services for senior citizens. The day serves as a reminder of the significant contributions older persons make to society, sharing wisdom, knowledge, and experience with younger generations.

According to Press Information Department, the message delivered highlighted the essential role senior citizens play in the nation’s progress and prosperity, underscoring their status as foundational members of society. It also pointed out the moral and religious duties to care for the elderly with compassion and dignity, aligning with the teachings of Islam and the responsibilities enshrined in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The statement called on federal and provincial governments, along with civil society, to prioritize and strengthen healthcare services, social security systems, and legal protections to ensure a healthy and inclusive environment for the elderly.
