Pakistan Navy Day Commemorates Historic Maritime Valor

Islamabad: Pakistan Navy Day is being celebrated today across the country, honoring the valiant efforts and sacrifices of Navy veterans and martyrs who displayed exceptional bravery against a formidable adversary. The day is particularly dedicated to recalling the audacious Operation ‘SOMNATH’ which saw significant naval achievements during the 1965 conflict with India.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, in his message, emphasized the importance of Navy Day as a profound reminder of the fearless endeavors of Pakistan Navy personnel. He recounted the strategic successes of Operation ‘SOMNATH,’ where Pakistani warships executed a surprise attack on the Indian Port of Dwarka, successfully destroying vital shore installations and a critical radar station. This operation, he noted, stands as a testament to the skilled and daring maneuvers of the Navy, which dealt a severe blow to the enemy forces.

The celebration also highlights the role of PNS/M GHAZI during the 1965 war, which served as a significant deterrent and showcased Pakistan Navy’s tactical superiority. Admiral Ashraf’s message highlighted the ongoing inspiration drawn from these historical feats, which continue to fuel a spirit of patriotism and honor across the nation.

Navy Day serves not only as a commemoration of past glories but also as an affirmation of the Navy’s continuing commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests against all threats.
