Pakistan-New Zealand Parliamentary Friendship Group Holds First Briefing Session

Islamabad: The Pakistan-New Zealand Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) held its first meeting, led by Ms. Sabheen Ghoury, MNA and Convener of the group, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring trade opportunities.

According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, the meeting included a virtual briefing from Pakistan’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, H.E. Dr. Faisal Aziz Ahmed, alongside senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce. Notable Members of the National Assembly, such as Mr. Anjum Aqeel Khan and Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, participated in the session.

The meeting offered an in-depth examination of diplomatic and political ties between Pakistan and New Zealand. Participants discussed trade and investment prospects, aiming to identify sectors ripe for collaboration.

Challenges impeding closer cooperation were also addressed, with discussions on practical solutions and strategies to overcome these barriers.

Concluding the session, the group focused on developing a strategic action plan to enhance bilateral ties. The importance of parliamentary exchanges and people-to-people interactions in dispelling misconceptions about Pakistan was highlighted.

The meeting ended with a commitment to foster stronger and mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.
