Pakistan Power Minister Highlights Renewable Energy Commitment at Belt and Road Conference

Qingdao: Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to renewable energy at the Third Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference. Leghari emphasized the importance of global cooperation and the role of the Belt and Road Initiative in fostering sustainable economic growth through enhanced energy infrastructure and trade. He advocated for the Belt and Road Green Energy Cooperation Action Plan 2024-29 and called for the establishment of a partnership secretariat in Beijing.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Leghari addressed the opening ceremony in Qingdao, where he urged international investors to consider the burgeoning opportunities within Pakistan’s energy sector. He expressed that collaborative efforts are essential for advancing renewable energy technologies, improving grid systems, and ensuring a secure and sustainable energy future.

The Minister also noted Pakistan’s receptiveness to foreign investment in clean energy projects, including a significant electric vehicle assembly plant initiative by BYD in collaboration with Hub Power Company. He stressed the necessity of global resource collaboration to effectively address climate change and enhance energy security.
