Pakistan Prepares For Carpet Exhibition Amidst Indian Competition

Islamabad: Lahore is gearing up to host the 41st International Carpet Exhibition from October 7-9, 2025, amidst competition from a similar event announced by India. Preparations for the showcase of hand-knotted carpets, organized jointly by the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), are nearing completion.

Chairman of the exhibition, Riaz Ahmed, acknowledged the challenge posed by India’s competing event but expressed confidence in Pakistan’s efforts to ensure a successful exhibition.

Addressing a meeting at the PCMEA office, Ahmed, joined virtually by PCMEA Chairman Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman and other key figures, highlighted the significance of the event. Attendees included Patron-in-Chief Abdul Latif Malik, Chief Organizer Ijaz-ur-Rehman, Chief Coordinator Major (R) Akhtar Nazir Khan, senior members Usman Ashraf and Saeed Khan, and PCMEA Secretary Muhammad Riaz.

Over 100 foreign businesses from 40 nations are anticipated to attend the exhibition, potentially boosting Pakistan’s hand-knotted carpet sector and national economy through increased exports and foreign exchange earnings. Organizers are optimistic about achieving substantial success with backing from TDAP and other partners.

The main aim is to present Pakistan’s carpet industry globally, showcasing a wide array of hand-crafted carpets in both contemporary and classic styles, highlighting the nation’s craftsmanship and cultural legacy.

The three-day event offers a chance to forge lasting relationships with international buyers and understand evolving global trends.

India’s decision to hold a similar event following Pakistan’s announcement underscores Pakistan’s rising prominence in the global carpet market. Ensuring the exhibition’s triumph is a shared responsibility, and all stakeholders are dedicated to contributing their part.

The collective goal is to showcase the innovation and artistry of Pakistan’s hand-knotted carpet industry to the world. The exhibition will act as a dynamic display of quality, featuring contemporary and traditional designs for global buyers.
