Pakistan Prime Minister Attends Funeral of Iranian Leaders in Tehran

Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif traveled to Tehran to participate in the funeral services of the late Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, following their untimely deaths in a helicopter crash in Eastern Azerbaijan province on May 19, 2024. The Prime Minister extended his condolences on behalf of Pakistan during this solemn occasion.

According to Press Information Department, upon his arrival, Prime Minister Sharif was greeted by Mr. Mehrdad Bazrpash, Iran’s Minister for Road and Urban Development, and the Pakistani Ambassador to Tehran, Mr. Mudassir Tipu. During his visit, the Prime Minister met with Acting President H.E. Dr. Mohammad Mokhber, offering condolences and support as Dr. Mokhber assumes his new responsibilities. The Prime Minister’s delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, among other key cabinet members, underscoring the significance of the visit in reaffirming the strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and Iran.
