Pakistan Railways Earns Over 300 Billion Rupees in Four Years

Islamabad: Pakistan Railways continues to move toward financial stability, as it has earned over 300 billion rupees in four years from various revenue streams.

According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan Railways generates revenue through several major streams, with passenger services serving as the primary source. Freight operations form another key revenue stream, transporting petroleum, coal, cement, agricultural products, and other items across the country.

The department has recently taken several steps, such as introducing executive washrooms, providing free Wi-Fi, installing escalators at major stations, and offering modern dining cars with hygienic food. They have also improved cleanliness standards in partnership with the waste management department.

The ministry is proactively engaging private parties through leasing and outsourcing of services. So far, six passenger trains have been outsourced, and the outsourcing of 11 more passenger trains is in process.
