Pakistan Renews Kartarpur Corridor Agreement to Continue Interfaith Harmony Efforts

Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has officially renewed the Kartarpur Corridor agreement with India for another five years, ensuring continued visa-free access for Sikh pilgrims to Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Narowal, where Sikhism’s founder, Baba Guru Nanak, spent his final years. This renewal marks the continuation of a significant initiative that fosters interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence between the two neighboring countries.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the renewal of this agreement, initially signed on October 24, 2019, reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to interfaith harmony. The statement highlighted that since its inception, the corridor has enabled thousands of pilgrims from India to visit this sacred site without a visa, fulfilling a longstanding desire of the Sikh community to have easier access to one of their most important religious landmarks.

The agreement is celebrated as a symbol of peace and brotherhood, earning accolades from the international community, including the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, who praised it as a “Corridor of Hope.”
