Pakistan Retail Business Council Supports Government Economic Reforms

Islamabad, The Pakistan Retail Business Council (PRBC) has commended the government for its initiatives aimed at improving the nation’s economic landscape.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad, the PRBC delegation led by Chairman Ziad Bashir expressed support for the FBR’s Tajir Dost Scheme and discussed the challenges retail businesses face. They emphasized the need to include the untaxed undocumented retail sector in the tax net and offered proposals to promote documented business practices.

The Finance Minister acknowledged these concerns and mentioned collaboration with McKinsey and Company to aid FBR’s digital transformation efforts, aimed at expanding the tax base. Minister Aurangzeb also noted that Minister of State Ali Pervez Malik is supervising the digitalization process to ensure its timely completion and reiterated the government’s commitment to consider PRBC’s suggestions beneficially for both the nation and its business community.
