Pakistan Science Foundation, National Highway Authority sign a deal for Technical Collaboration

Islamabad, February 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and National Highway Authority (NHA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Technical Collaboration at Highway Research and Training Centre (HRTC), Burhan the other day.

PSF Chairman Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro and HRTC Executive Director Mr. Sabir Hasan signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations on the occasion of a Technical Seminar jointly organized by HRTC and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Experts from NUST, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila and other universities attended the seminar.

Under the MoU, PSF will extend its full support to NHA in the establishment of Highway Research and Training Centre through its network of experts, engineers and members of the technical committees. Both the partners will identify areas of research under joint ventures for mutual benefits and also exchange information relating to promotion of research for indigenous technology development for the benefit of the local industry.

PSF will help NHA to conduct seminars, conferences and exhibitions to promote and popularize issues related to Highway Research. Both the organizations will also launch joint research projects relating to industry. NHA will be responsible for successful execution of the projects while PSF will provide partial financial support.

NHA also signed research collaboration agreements with NUST and University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila and UET Lahore on this occasion.

PSF, established in 1973 through an Act of Parliament, working under Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), is a premier agency for promotion of science and technology in the country through a number of programmes including funding for scientific and technological research, Academia-Industry Linkages for Applied Research Projects, popularization of science through Science Caravans, S and T Fairs and Travelling Expos, Establishment of Science Centers and Museums and Introduction of inquiry-based science education concept in educational institutions of the country.
