Pakistan Set to Launch First Trackless, Solar-Powered Metro in Lahore

Lahore: Pakistan is set to launch its first trackless, ticketless, and solar-powered metro in Lahore. The provincial metropolis has received its first demonstration vehicle of the Super Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (SRT) System, marking a significant advancement in urban transport.

According to Radio Pakistan, the SRT System is designed to operate like a subway but runs on roads, utilizing Virtual Track Technology. This innovative system employs sensors, GPS, and digital mapping instead of traditional physical rails, offering flexibility and efficiency in urban transit solutions.

A pilot project has commenced near Lahore Airport to test the battery-powered electric vehicle. The launch of this project signifies a collaboration between Pakistan and China, with officials from both countries attending the launch ceremony. The initiative aims to revolutionize public transportation in Lahore by providing an eco-friendly and efficient alternative to the existing transport infrastructure.
