Pakistan Shifts Focus to Private Sector-Led Economic Growth: Khurram

Islamabad: Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad announced that Pakistan has successfully transitioned from macroeconomic stabilization towards sustainable, private sector-led growth. This development is supported by structural reforms, improved investor confidence, and strengthening economic fundamentals. Schehzad shared these insights while addressing a seminar titled “Pakistan Economic Outlook: Fiscal Year 2027 and Beyond” in Karachi.

According to Radio Pakistan, Khurram Schehzad highlighted the remarkable economic turnaround Pakistan has experienced over the past two to three years. Macroeconomic stability has been firmly restored, and the country is now focused on sustaining higher, investment-led, and export-oriented growth. He emphasized that real GDP growth has increased to 3.7 percent, driven by improved performance in agriculture, large-scale manufacturing, and the services sector.

Schehzad also pointed out significant improvements in Pakistan’s external sector. The current account deficit has been reduced to less than 150 million dollars, a substantial decrease from 17.5 billion dollars in 2022.
