Pakistan, Sri Lanka Commit to Strengthening Defense and Security Cooperation

Rawalpindi: Pakistan and Sri Lanka have pledged to deepen their defense and security cooperation. This commitment came during a meeting between Air Marshal RAUP Rajapaksa, Commander of the Sri Lankan Air Force, and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, in Rawalpindi.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza emphasized the value Pakistan places on its longstanding relationship with Sri Lanka. He highlighted the mutual intent to enhance bilateral ties, focusing particularly on defense and security sectors.

Air Marshal RAUP Rajapaksa, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He praised their achievements in combating terrorism and their continuous efforts toward regional peace and stability.

The visit began with a ceremonial ‘Guard of Honour’ presented to the Commander of the Sri Lankan Air Force by a smartly turned out tri-services contingent at the Joint Staff Headquarters.
