Pakistan Targets 800,000 Jobs for Overseas Employment in 2026

Abu dhabi: A prominent Arab daily, ‘Khaleej Times,’ has highlighted the Pakistani government’s initiatives aimed at addressing issues faced by overseas Pakistanis and creating job opportunities as critical steps for economic improvement.

According to Radio Pakistan, the government of Pakistan has introduced comprehensive reforms to tackle challenges faced by Pakistani expatriates, enhance skill development, and create employment opportunities globally. The initiative to generate employment abroad is seen as a strategic move for skill development and economic progress.

Pakistan has set a target to create 800,000 jobs in the United Arab Emirates and other countries this year, marking an increase of 60,000 from the previous year. The Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, stated that Pakistan’s manpower export was 740,000 in 2025, with an aim to increase this number to 800,000 in the current calendar year.

The ‘Khaleej Times’ further reports that more than nine million Pakistanis currently reside in Gulf Cooperation Council member countries. These overseas Pakistanis contribute significantly to the economy, having sent nearly forty billion dollars in remittances to Pakistan last year. Additionally, Italy offered 10,500 jobs to Pakistan in the health and agriculture sectors last month.
