Pakistan to Boost Electric Vehicle Use, Aims to Cut Fuel Imports, Says Minister Tanveer

Lahore: Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain announced today that the Pakistani government is intensifying its focus on electric and hybrid vehicles to decrease the country’s reliance on costly imported fuel. At an event in Lahore, he detailed the government’s strategy to promote sustainable energy alternatives, including a significant push towards solar energy.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tanveer pointed out the rising demand for electric vehicles in the country and revealed plans to unveil a new policy next month to further support this sector. He emphasized that solarization remains a government priority to increase the share of alternate energy sources in the national grid.

Additionally, the Minister announced a novel initiative to award free electric motorbikes to students who perform outstandingly in their academic pursuits. This move is part of a broader effort to encourage eco-friendly transportation among the youth and reduce environmental impact.
