Pakistan to Launch GLOF III Project with NDMA to Combat Climate Challenges

Islamabad, The Ministry of Climate Change, in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), is set to initiate the GLOF III project to safeguard Pakistan’s glacial water resources. PM’s Coordinator on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Romina Khurshid Alam, announced the project during a meeting with NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik HI(M).

According to Press Information Department, the project aims to address the impacts of climate change, including heat waves, natural disasters, and potential floods. Discussions also covered strategies to protect vulnerable wildlife during these events. Both sides agreed to formulate a joint strategy for the upcoming COP29, focusing on preparing reports and documentaries that highlight Pakistan’s climate initiatives.

The meeting further emphasized the need for a joint project bank to ensure long-term sustainable development and avoid duplicative efforts. This collaborative approach underscores Pakistan’s proactive stance on environmental challenges and its commitment to global climate goals.
