Pakistan Warns Against Dangers of Dismantling UNRWA at UNSC

New York: Pakistan has raised concerns over the potential dismantling of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) during a briefing at the UN Security Council. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Munir Akram, emphasized the critical importance of UNRWA in delivering humanitarian assistance to Palestinian people.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Akram stated that targeting UNRWA is part of an effort by Israel to weaken not only the structures necessary for humanitarian support but also the Palestinian identity and the rights of the Palestinian people. He highlighted the agency’s significant role in the successful implementation of ceasefires, providing essential humanitarian aid, and facilitating the reconstruction of Gaza.
