Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, declared that Pakistan’s Armed Forces consistently meet the nation’s expectations by promptly responding to both foreign threats and domestic challenges. His remarks came during the commemoration of Pakistan Defense and Martyrs’ Day, which honors the sacrifices made during the 1965 war and is observed annually on September 6.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the event drew a significant turnout, including diplomats, defense and military attaches, U.S. officials, and members of the Pakistani community. Ambassador Sheikh outlined the significant toll the fight against terrorism has taken on the nation, with over 80,000 civilians and 10,000 security personnel losing their lives. He conveyed hope that the international community would recognize these sacrifices and show solidarity with Pakistan.

Ambassador Sheikh also emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to global peace through its active participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions, having contributed over 235,000 personnel to 48 missions. He discussed the strengthening of Pak-US defense ties, noting the focus on counter-terrorism, security cooperation, and military training.

The event also featured remarks from Brig Irfan Ali, Defence Attache of Pakistan, who lauded the professional skills and dedication of the Pakistani Armed Forces. He paid tribute to the soldiers and law enforcement officers who have suffered or sacrificed in the line of duty.

In conclusion, Ambassador Sheikh voiced solidarity with the people of Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, urging international support for their right to self-determination and highlighting the need to address their ongoing repression.
