Pakistan’s Finance Minister Stresses Importance of Stability for Economic Growth

Islamabad: In a recent televised address, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the crucial link between law and order and economic progress, highlighting the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy amidst challenges. The minister detailed the significant impacts of recent disturbances on economic stability and called for dialogue to avoid further disruptions.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Aurangzeb pointed to the reduction of inflation to a 44-month low of 6.9 percent as evidence of the benefits of the government’s economic policies. However, he noted that recent strikes and unrest have caused substantial economic damage, estimating a loss of 190 billion rupees per day during periods of agitation.

The minister also referenced the tragic killings of Chinese engineers in Pakistan, describing their loss as a significant blow to the country’s efforts, particularly their work on tariff reduction aimed at providing public relief. Aurangzeb’s call to the masses was clear: avoid participation in agitation and focus on constructive dialogue, underscoring the government’s commitment to securing and advancing Pakistan’s economic interests.
