Pakistan’s Government Emphasizes Efficient Public Service and Rightsizing in Science and Technology Sector

Islamabad: Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Engineer Sajid Baloch, emphasized the critical need for government departments to enhance productivity and align with the Prime Minister’s vision of rightsizing during a meeting with heads of allied organizations on September 4, 2024.

According to Press Information Department, Engineer Sajid Baloch chaired a high-powered meeting with the leaders of 16 allied organizations under the Ministry of Science and Technology. The attendees included notable figures such as the Chairman of the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), Director General of the Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA), Rector of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), and other prominent leaders.

During the meeting, Baloch stressed the importance of an efficient and effective work environment, urging department heads to adhere to the highest work ethics and ensure no delays in government processes. He highlighted that the primary function of government entities should be to provide outstanding public service and relief, which should be regarded as the utmost priority.

The Secretary expressed his expectation that each department would work in a manner that justifies its existence by delivering public service of the highest quality. He echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiment that rightsizing within government organizations is crucial and necessary for achieving optimal productivity. Baloch expressed optimism that all department heads would align their operations to meet the Prime Minister’s objectives effectively.
