Parliamentary Secretary Highlights New Minority Rights Initiative

Islamabad: The Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights, Ms. Saba Sadiq, took center stage as a keynote speaker at the unveiling of the “Together for Tolerance: Strengthening Minority Rights and Inclusion” project on Thursday. The event, hosted by the Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights (PCHR) at Hotel Best Western in Islamabad, focused on fostering inclusivity and interfaith harmony across Pakistan.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, Ms. Saba Sadiq emphasized the essential role of inclusivity and interfaith harmony in building a united Pakistan. She reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding minority rights, as enshrined in the nation’s Constitution, and praised the collaborative efforts of PCHR, the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), and their partners, including EU representatives and various advocacy groups.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, also attended the event, expressing his support for the project. He acknowledged the significant contributions of religious minorities to Pakistan’s heritage and development.

The “Together for Tolerance” initiative aims to dismantle barriers to inclusivity and promote a culture of equality, respect, and interfaith dialogue. Ms. Saba Sadiq reinforced the Ministry of Human Rights’ dedication to supporting endeavors that align with its mission to uphold the rights of all citizens, regardless of their religious or social backgrounds.
