Parliamentary Secretary Visits Transgender Protection Centre in Islamabad, Discusses Key Initiatives.

Islamabad: Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Human Rights Mrs. Saba Sadiq visited the Transgender Protection Centre in Islamabad, accompanied by Director Social Welfare Mr. Arif Shamim. Mrs. Saba Sadiq received a briefing on the key functions and activities of the Transgender Protection Centre. She also held meetings with several groups of transgender persons, assuring them of efforts to resolve their issues.

According to Press Information Department, Mrs. Saba Sadiq emphasized the need for officers to provide immediate healthcare facilities, rehabilitation, and referral services to transgender persons. She urged the formulation of a uniform policy in accordance with the provisions of the Transgender Act, which should be shared with provinces to ensure the effective implementation of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2018.
