Islamabad: A meeting of the Petroleum Pricing Committee was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik in Islamabad. The committee agreed on recommendations aimed at making petroleum product prices more transparent and predictable.
According to Radio Pakistan, the recommendations are intended to improve market efficiency and protect consumers from sudden fluctuations in prices. The committee’s final report will be presented to the Prime Minister soon.
The committee recommended June 2027 as a potential target for the deregulation of petrol prices. Petrol prices will gradually be shifted toward a competitive and market-based pricing system.
