Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced to celebrate May 10 as Marka-e-Haq Day every year to commemorate Pakistan’s landmark victory against unprovoked Indian aggression. He made this announcement at a special ceremony held at Pakistan Monument in Islamabad to commemorate the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister stated that India used the Pahalgam incident as a pretext to level a barrage of allegations against Pakistan, but Pakistan exercised restraint. He mentioned that Pakistan warned India against any misadventure and offered an impartial international investigation into the incident. However, India imposed war by targeting mosques, innocent children, and civilians under the cover of darkness.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that Pakistan’s armed forces gave a historic and befitting response to the enemy, which will be remembered forever. He noted that Pakistan’s Fatah missiles destroyed the enemy’s defense system, and the Shaheens of Pakistan Air Force dominated the skies, leading to India’s agreement to a ceasefire within four hours.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the soldiers and officers of the Pakistan Army, acknowledging their courage and the legacy of great traditions. He also honored the mothers who sacrificed their sons for the country. He saluted the nation for demonstrating faith, unity, and discipline, emphasizing that Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos is a victory of national honor, principles, and self-respect.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the leadership of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for his courage and bravery. He also commended Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf for their roles in the conflict.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to countries that supported Pakistan diplomatically, specifically thanking Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and China. He especially applauded US President Donald Trump for his intervention to stop the war, promoting peace and saving lives.
Discussing regional peace efforts, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Palestinians and the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He also mentioned ongoing operations against Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan, affirming the resolve to defeat terrorism.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of the youth, describing them as a valuable asset and promising to provide them with education, skills, and employment opportunities. The ceremony concluded with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.
