PM Calls for Effective Awareness Campaign to Curb Population Growth

islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for an effective public awareness campaign to check population growth.

According to Radio Pakistan, while chairing a meeting in Islamabad today, the Prime Minister highlighted that the rapidly increasing population is the most significant challenge facing the country. He stressed that controlling population growth and promoting population welfare should be considered a national responsibility.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for population planning to be aligned with national development, economic stability, and human resource development. This alignment is crucial to ensure sustainable growth and development in the country.

During the meeting, it was informed that the National Population Council meeting would be convened soon to formulate a comprehensive strategy for population welfare. This council aims to address the population challenge with a strategic approach.

Additionally, it was disclosed that a National Stabilization Plan for 2026-2035 is being prepared. This plan will present a national framework to reduce population growth, with a target to decrease the population growth rate from the current 2.55 percent to 1.25 percent by 2035.
