PM Orders Halt on Collection of Last Month’s Electricity Bills in Flood-Hit Areas

Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed the electricity distribution companies to stop collecting last month’s bills from consumers in flood-hit areas.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister issued these directives during a meeting held in Lahore on Saturday. He stated that consumers who have already been charged with electricity bills for the month of August will have their bills adjusted in the upcoming month.

The Prime Minister emphasized that a comprehensive relief package for electricity bills in the flood-affected areas will be announced once negotiations with the IMF are finalized. He acknowledged the devastating impact of the floods, which have affected millions of people across the country, and affirmed the government’s commitment to alleviating the sufferings of the people during this challenging time.

He further highlighted that both federal and provincial departments are exerting maximum efforts towards the rescue and rehabilitation of flood-affected individuals. These efforts, the Prime Minister assured, will persist until all affected people are able to return to their homes.
