PM Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to Nuclear Technology for Development

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to utilizing nuclear technology for sustainable development during a meeting with Rafael Mariano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in Islamabad on Wednesday.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister praised the IAEA’s efforts in promoting nuclear energy as an essential solution for addressing climate change. Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s longstanding and fruitful partnership with the IAEA, highlighting the country’s role as one of the founding members of the agency.

Sharif noted significant advancements in Pakistan’s nuclear power generation, industrial development, healthcare, and agriculture, attributing these achievements to the support received from the IAEA. He stated that these advancements have contributed positively to Pakistan’s socio-economic growth.

The Prime Minister expressed a commitment to strengthening collaboration with the IAEA, aiming to maximize the peaceful applications of nuclear technology for the benefit of both Pakistan and the global community.

The Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano, commended Pakistan’s constructive and enduring engagement with the agency, assuring continued cooperation in the future.
