Beijing: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their shared commitment and resolve to further strengthen their strategic cooperative partnership. This was expressed during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting was characterized by a cordial atmosphere, where both leaders discussed various regional and global issues. Prime Minister Sharif congratulated President Xi on the successful SCO Council of Heads of State Summit in Tianjin and the 80th anniversary of the World’s Anti-Fascist War. He praised President Xi’s leadership and expressed Pakistan’s pride in China’s achievements, reiterating Pakistan’s willingness to collaborate with China on its path to modernization.
Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and socio-economic development. He highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as a crucial component of President Xi’s Belt and Road Initiative and expressed a desire to work closely with China on the next phase of CPEC.
The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s support for President Xi’s initiatives, including the Global Governance Initiative, Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, which aim to promote global peace, stability, and development.
President Xi affirmed China’s commitment to assist Pakistan in economic growth and development, particularly in the second phase of CPEC. Both leaders agreed on the uniqueness of their countries’ relationship and the need for enhanced bilateral cooperation.
The two nations also discussed regional and global developments, agreeing to maintain close cooperation. Prime Minister Sharif extended an invitation to President Xi to visit Pakistan next year, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations.
