PM Terms Attitudes of Extremism, Hatred and Division Contrary to Islam’s Teachings

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the religious scholars, especially those from the Council of Islamic Ideology, to play a key role in protecting the youth from the onslaught of negative attitudes, false narratives, lies, and propaganda. Addressing a ceremony to mark the Golden Jubilee of the establishment of the Council of Islamic Ideology in Islamabad, he emphasized the importance of religious scholars coming forward to transform Pakistan into a truly Islamic welfare state as envisioned by the founding fathers. He stressed the need for guidance in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister stated that attitudes of extremism, hatred, and division are contrary to Islam’s teachings of unity and brotherhood. He expressed his appreciation for the Council of Islamic Ideology’s dedication and honest discharge of responsibilities, highlighting its contributions to Islamic banking and promoting unity in the country. He emphasized the necessity for the state, society, and individuals to follow the path of Islam to achieve the true ideals behind the creation of Pakistan.

In his remarks on the occasion, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology, Allama Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, stated that the Council has played an important role in maintaining the ideological foundation and Islamic identity of the country. He also addressed the steps taken by the council to deal with the issue of sectarianism.
