PM Urges Resolution of Kashmir Dispute in Accordance with UN Resolutions

Muzaffarabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has underscored Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, emphasizing the need for resolving the Kashmir issue in alignment with United Nations Security Council resolutions. During an address to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sharif also paid tribute to the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs and the Hurriyat leadership.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister reiterated that Kashmir holds significant importance for Pakistan, as echoed by the founder of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam, who referred to it as the country’s “jugular vein.” He assured that Pakistan will continue to oppose Indian actions in the region, highlighting issues such as black laws, extrajudicial killings, and demographic changes in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s pursuit of peace should not be mistaken for weakness, given its nuclear capabilities. He called upon India to engage in a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute, respecting UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Sharif urged the international community to exert pressure on India to enable Kashmiris to determine their future. He also pledged to prioritize development in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to enhance travel, health, and education facilities for its residents.

In addition, the Prime Minister announced plans to establish Danish Schools across various districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to improve educational opportunities in the region.
