PML-N Government Highlights Strong Academia-Industry Linkage as Key Achievement

Islamabad: The Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, emphasized the strong linkage between academia and industry as a defining achievement of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government during a seminar on “Implementation of Industry 4.0.” This event, organized by the Engineering Development Board at NUST Islamabad, highlighted the importance of adopting cutting-edge technologies to improve industrial efficiency and competitiveness.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, Minister Ahsan Iqbal noted that the PML-N had established several national centers during its 2013-2018 tenure to foster collaboration between research institutions and industry. These centers serve as platforms for startups in conjunction with university labs, focusing on areas such as Big Data, AI, and Cyber Security.

Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, who inaugurated the seminar, underscored the necessity of automation and smart manufacturing. The Engineering Development Board’s CEO stressed the urgency of digital transformation for enhancing competitiveness.

Minister Iqbal also recounted the impact of political instability on the PML-N’s initiatives under Vision 2010 and Vision 2025. He highlighted the economic challenges faced when the PML-N returned to power in 2022 and credited prudent policies under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the recent economic turnaround.

Experts from various sectors discussed policy frameworks and digital adoption strategies during the seminar. The event concluded with a visit to the National Science and Technology Park, showcasing ongoing research and innovation efforts, with plans for similar events in major industrial hubs.
