Islamabad: Preparations are in full swing across the country to celebrate the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan on Friday in a befitting manner. A large number of stalls displaying national flags, buntings, badges, and other decorative merchandise have been set up nationwide to mark the occasion.
According to Radio Pakistan, people from various walks of life, especially children, are decorating their houses and buildings with national flags and buntings, while the main roads are also being adorned with flags and fancy lights. Decorative items including national flags, multi-colored garlands, badges, Minar-e-Pakistan models, and portraits of Quaid-e-Azam and national heroes are in high demand these days.
Major government and private organizations are busy finalizing special programs as part of the Independence Day celebrations. These programs include seminars, lectures, and essay and quiz competitions. Flag hoisting ceremonies will be held in the federal and provincial capitals, as well as other cities.
