Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have extended felicitations to the Pakistan Navy on the inclusion of PNS/M Hangor in its fleet. In their separate messages, they described it as a significant milestone in strengthening Pakistan’s maritime defence capabilities.
According to Radio Pakistan, both leaders expressed their gratitude to the government and people of China for their valued cooperation, emphasizing that the Hangor programme reflects the enduring Pakistan-China strategic partnership. They highlighted the critical role PNS/M Hangor will play in safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests and defending its maritime boundaries.
The President and Prime Minister affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and strategic balance in the region while bolstering its defence capabilities. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif remarked that the Hangor submarine project represents a significant milestone in Pakistan’s journey towards defence self-reliance.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to providing all necessary resources to enhance the defence capabilities of Pakistan’s security forces and to develop capacities aligned with modern requirements. He also praised the Pakistan Navy, engineers, and technical experts for their professionalism upon the arrival of PNS/M Hangor in Pakistan.
