Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have declared the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities, particularly in tackling the rising issue of diabetes, as expressed in their messages on World Diabetes Day. Both leaders emphasized the necessity of providing comprehensive health services to the populace.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari stressed that diabetes can be both controlled and prevented through proactive measures. He highlighted the importance of bolstering Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure to ensure widespread access to affordable and effective diabetes care for all citizens.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the upcoming “Prime Minister’s Program for Prevention and Control of Diabetes Mellitus,” designed to address the disease at the federal level, aiming to improve healthcare capacities across all provinces. He expressed concern over the alarming statistic that approximately thirty-three million Pakistanis are burdened by diabetes, underscoring the urgent need for action.
