Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has extended an invitation to investors and traders from Guatemala to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) framework.
During a meeting with former Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales in Islamabad, President Zardari highlighted the SIFC’s role as a single-window platform for investments in sectors such as agriculture, IT, energy, mining, and defense production.
The President emphasized the shared challenges faced by both nations, including rural development, climate resilience, and economic modernization. He identified sectors like sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and health sciences as potential areas for collaboration.
Additionally, President Zardari acknowledged Guatemala’s support for Pakistan at the United Nations, notably in the Human Rights Council and the UN Security Council, and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation at multilateral forums.
Former President Morales expressed Guatemala’s interest in learning from Pakistan’s experiences across various sectors. The Central American nation’s interest underscores a potential for bilateral engagement and knowledge exchange.
