President, Prime Minister strongly condemn Saudi Arabia terror attacks, express solidarity with brotherly nation

We are deeply shocked by the multiple suicide bombings in the Holy city of Madina Munawwara near Roza-e-Mubarak of Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), Qatif and Jeddah, during the sacred month of Ramazan. The President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan have strongly condemned the attacks in the Holy land that hosts the most venerated religious centres of Islam. Our leadership has expressed solidarity with the Khadmein Hermain Shreefain. They offered their heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and conveyed their prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured. The Government and the people of Pakistan are in profound anguish over the incident. Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The entire Pakistani nation and its leadership stand in solidarity with the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia in this hour of grief and shock and reiterate their abiding commitment to the safety, security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.

The attacks in this holy month of Ramazan, the sanctity of which is solemnly observed all across the globe by not only Muslims but also non-Muslims, testifies that a terrorist has no religion, no face and no identity. Terrorism is a global phenomenon and is not country or people-specific. The recent unfortunate attacks in Iraq, Turkey, USA, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Europe are a manifestation of that effect. Terrorism can only be defeated by international cooperation. Being itself one of the biggest victims of terrorism, Pakistan has always extended cooperation to the international community in their drive against terrorism and extremism and shall continue to do so.

Pakistan is ready to extend all possible support and cooperation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in investigating the matter and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The Adviser to the Prime Minister, Mr. Sartaj Aziz, has also written a separate letter to the Saudi Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Adel Al-Jubeir, to condemn the attacks and offer condolences to the bereaved families. He also offered cooperation and support in the investigations.

The relationship of Pakistan with Saudi Arabia is special by virtue of multiple bonds of religious affinity, culture and the 2.6 million strong diaspora that bind them together. There is a large Pakistani Community in Saudi Arabia, who are working there for several decades in various occupations and capacities and had been contributing to the progress and prosperity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with complete dedication. Their services are greatly valued by the Saudi Government and the people. The people and the Government of Pakistan remain committed to safeguarding the Holy places, and the territorial integrity of the fraternal Kingdom and its people.
