President Zardari Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to One-China Policy

Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to the one-China principle, highlighting the country’s long-standing policy during an interview with Chinese media. In his remarks, President Zardari confirmed Pakistan’s stance that Taiwan is an integral part of China and expressed unwavering support for China’s core interests, including opposition to Taiwan independence.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the President discussed various aspects of the Pakistan-China relationship, including the development of Gwadar Port under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He praised the progress made over the past eleven years and welcomed global investors to the port.

Additionally, President Zardari emphasized the importance of educational and people-to-people exchanges, advocating for the inclusion of the Chinese language in Pakistani schools’ curricula and facilitating travel between the two nations. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, responding from Beijing, commended Pakistan’s stance, noting it aligns with the aspirations of many countries upholding fairness and justice. He affirmed the strong bilateral relationship, describing it as an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
