Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing relief to the low-income class amidst rising fuel prices.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting in Islamabad to review the progress of the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme. He expressed satisfaction with the scheme’s impact, noting that over 7.5 million citizens have benefited from it in a short time due to timely measures.
The Prime Minister praised the government’s efforts in implementing the fuel subsidy scheme, describing it as an exemplary model of cooperation across the entire government machinery. He emphasized that the robust database developed will be used to further benefit citizens in the future.
During the meeting, it was reported that more than 8.4 million individuals have registered under the scheme, with over 7.5 million already benefiting. The Public Affairs Unit of the Prime Minister’s Office, along with public representatives, is assisting citizens with the registration process.
The scheme is being implemented across 129 districts nationwide, with all petrol stations involved in facilitating citizens. A 24/7 call center has been established to provide guidance to citizens and petrol pump owners. Since its launch on the 15th of last month, 12.2 million tokens have been issued, out of which 10.3 million have been used.
The initiative aims to provide a fuel subsidy to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc.
