Post: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Pledges to Combat Terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad:Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has affirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism and restoring peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aiming to ensure Pakistan’s continued progress and stability.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a meeting of the PML-N Parliamentary Party in Islamabad, the Prime Minister explained that the government had no choice but to impose emergency and Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to prevent potential widespread destruction.

The Prime Minister noted that terrorism had been eradicated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 2017-18 after significant sacrifices, but re-emerged following the rise of the PTI government, which allowed terrorists to return. He highlighted the sacrifices made by the people of the province, including children, women, youth, elderly, and political leaders, in the fight against terrorism.

Shehbaz Sharif criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for not supporting the families of martyrs and failing to speak out against terrorists. He emphasized that the Federal Government had made every effort over the last two and a half years to tackle the situation and expressed concern that a specific political party had created instability through protests and derogatory language, undermining efforts to counter terrorism.

The Prime Minister pointed out that development initiatives, such as schools, universities, hospitals, and measures to enhance law and order and reduce corruption, were being neglected in the province. He stressed that the government could not remain passive while the country’s progress was jeopardized.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism that collective efforts would bring peace, prosperity, and development to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan.
