Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Stresses Resolution of Kashmir Dispute for Regional Peace

Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that the establishment of lasting peace in South Asia is dependent on resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue. He asserted that any resolution should align with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the desires of the Kashmiri populace.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of Kashmiri Diaspora activists, which was led by Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, the Secretary General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum.

The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support in moral, diplomatic, and political realms for the Kashmiri peoples’ pursuit of their fundamental right to self-determination. He reminisced about consistently advocating for the Kashmiri community, including at his speech at the 2022 UN General Assembly and various other international forums.

Furthermore, he praised the efforts of the Kashmiri activists in raising global awareness regarding the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the conditions faced by the people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Kashmiri activists expressed their gratitude towards the Prime Minister for Pakistan’s steadfast backing of the Kashmir cause and briefed him on recent developments in the region. They also discussed their initiatives aimed at promoting the Kashmir freedom struggle internationally.
