Prime Minister Stresses Early Detection on International Day against Breast Cancer

Islamabad: In observance of the International Day against Breast Cancer, the Prime Minister of Pakistan emphasized the critical importance of raising awareness, early diagnosis, and treatment to combat the disease, particularly in low and middle-income countries where the majority of breast cancer deaths occur.

According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister highlighted the significant challenges Pakistan faces regarding the availability of screening and treatment facilities for breast cancer. He pointed out the effectiveness of early detection and treatment, noting a 98% chance of permanent recovery if the disease is diagnosed in its early stages. “We can effectively combat this by focusing on early detection and treatment,” he stated.

The Prime Minister also recognized the role of media in increasing public awareness about breast cancer, noting a rise in the reporting of early-stage cases due to dedicated efforts to encourage regular self-examinations among women. He called on all stakeholders, especially the media, to intensify efforts towards a coordinated national awareness campaign. “I am confident that with our collective efforts, we can significantly reduce breast cancer mortality in Pakistan and provide hope for a healthier future for all women,” he concluded.
