Privatisation Commission Advances PIA Privatisation with Six Bidders Prequalified

Islamabad: The Privatisation Commission Board convened on Thursday to discuss the progression of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited’s (PIACL) privatisation, marking a significant step toward the airline’s restructuring. The board confirmed the prequalification of six bidders for the upcoming auction scheduled for October 1.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting was chaired by Mr. Abdul Aleem Khan, the Minister for Privatisation and Chairman of the Privatisation Commission. The session focused on reviewing the recommendations submitted by the Financial Advisor concerning the terms outlined in the Request for Statement of Qualification (RSOQ). The prequalified bidders include prominent entities such as Fly Jinnah, a Consortium led by YB Holdings (Pvt.) Limited, Airblue Limited, another Consortium led by Pak Ethanol (Pvt.) Limited, Arif Habib Corporation Limited, and Blue World City.

The upcoming bidding event, planned for the beginning of next month, is a pivotal moment for the national carrier, which has been under consideration for privatisation in efforts to improve its efficiency and financial health.
