Proper Medical Supervision Key to Rheumatic Disease Management: Dr. Faizan

Karachi: Renowned Rheumatologist Dr. Faizan Ahmed Qureshi has emphasized the significance of World Arthritis Day in raising public awareness about joint pain, its symptoms, causes, preventive measures, and available treatment options.

According to Radio Pakistan, in an exclusive interview with their correspondent Qasim Bukhari, Dr. Faizan explained that arthritis involves inflammation of the joints and is broadly classified into two types: inflammatory arthritis and degenerative arthritis. He elaborated that inflammatory arthritis is marked by joint swelling, redness, and morning stiffness and encompasses several subtypes. On the other hand, the degenerative form is predominantly observed in older individuals and results from the gradual wear and tear of the joints.

Addressing a query, Dr. Faizan stressed the importance of consulting a qualified rheumatologist for individuals experiencing symptoms of arthritis. He noted that accurate diagnosis and treatment are crucial as these conditions require specialized care. Furthermore, he highlighted that while rheumatic diseases are generally chronic and may not have a permanent cure, they can be effectively managed through proper medical supervision, regular treatment, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
