Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, protests were held in the districts of Jammu and Baramulla, as residents voiced their dissatisfaction over inadequate infrastructure and essential services.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protests in Jammu’s Akhnoor area were fueled by frustration over a 500-meter section of the main road near the steel bridge over the Chenab River that has been left in disrepair for three years. The delays stem from land acquisition issues related to a road-widening project. Residents have reported significant disruptions in their daily lives due to soil erosion, which has resulted in water and mud seeping into their homes.
The protestors directed their criticism towards the administration and the Public Works Department (PWD), accusing them of neglecting their responsibilities. They demanded immediate intervention to rectify the deteriorating infrastructure.
Simultaneously, in the village of Hardu Aboora in Baramulla’s Tangmarg area, women gathered outside the office of the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department. They protested the ongoing water scarcity, which has deprived them of clean drinking water for an extended period. A protestor expressed frustration over the absence of any official visits from the PHE Department to address their concerns.
These concurrent protests underscore a growing public frustration over the lack of attention to basic infrastructure and services, with residents in both Akhnoor and Tangmarg demanding accountability and prompt action from local authorities.
