Protests Erupt in Kupwara Over Neglect of Basic Facilities

Srinagar: Demonstrators gathered outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kupwara, a district in the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir, to protest against what they described as anti-people policies by the authorities.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest was spearheaded by Khurshid Ahmad, a leader of the Awami Itehad Party and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Langate. The protestors criticized the occupation regime for failing to meet the basic needs of the local population, pointing to a recent incident involving a damaged transformer that led to a water supply disruption in a village. Despite multiple meetings and assurances from officials, they claimed that no substantial measures had been taken to address the issue.

The protestors called for accountability and demanded immediate action from the relevant departments, holding them responsible for the ongoing lack of essential services. They stressed the urgency of restoring basic amenities to alleviate the hardships faced by the residents of Langate. The gathering reflected widespread frustration over what the residents perceive as prolonged administrative neglect of their grievances.
