Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that providing relief to the common man during challenging times remains the foremost priority of his government. He made this statement while presiding over a meeting in Lahore focused on reviewing the country’s petroleum product reserves and assessing the government’s relief measures amid recent regional tensions.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister assured that the government would not abandon the populace during these difficult times. He highlighted that funds saved through government austerity measures would be redirected to support the citizens. Furthermore, Shehbaz Sharif stressed the ongoing efforts to swiftly aid economically vulnerable segments of the population.
A key initiative discussed during the meeting involved the provision of subsidies to individuals utilizing public transport and goods vehicles via digital wallets. This digital subsidy transfer system has been extended to public transport buses, wagons, trucks, and goods-carrying vehicles, ensuring an efficient and transparent distribution process.
During the meeting, updates were provided on the progress of implementing the government’s relief measures in response to the recent increase in petroleum product prices. Officials assured that the country possesses adequate petroleum reserves to meet its current needs.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar, Dr. Musadik Malik, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant Talha Burki, and other senior officials, reflecting the government’s concerted efforts to address the pressing issue at hand.
