Provincial Ombudsman Balochistan Orders Inquiry into Delayed Appointment of Deceased Employee’s Son

Quetta: The Provincial Ombudsman of Balochistan, Nazar Muhammad Baloch, has ordered an investigation into a complaint regarding the delayed appointment of Mohammad Irfan, who sought employment under the dependent quota after his father’s death. The father, a former deputy messenger in the B and R department, passed away during his service, leaving his son to petition for his job on a quota basis which had been temporarily suspended due to a court order.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Mohammad Irfan filed a complaint after his application was initially overlooked due to a legal ban, which has since been lifted, but his appointment continues to be delayed. The Provincial Ombudsman responded by filing the complaint under Section 9(1) and subsequently issued a notice to the concerned department seeking an explanation.

The Section Officer of the Communication and Works Department, in a reply, stated that the matter has been forwarded to the Chief Engineer (Buildings) and will be considered by the relevant departmental committee. In response to the actions taken, Mohammad Irfan expressed his gratitude towards the ombudsman’s office for addressing his complaint.

The resolution of this case could set a precedent for how similar cases are handled by government departments in Balochistan, ensuring that the rights and requests of dependents seeking employment after the demise of their government-employed relatives are treated with due diligence and urgency.
